In all my years experiencing domestic violence, I have found this service to be invaluable. Particularly the specialist counsellors who you can ask to speak with. National counselling line for any Australian who has experienced, or is at risk of, family and domestic violence including coercive control and/or sexual assault.

 

1800RESPECT can:

  • listen to you 

  • help make sense of what is happening

  • talk about ways to keep you safe 

  • talk through options and help you decide what information, people or services will be most helpful

  • make referrals and connect you with the right services.

 

Lifeline
 

Anyone across Australia experiencing a personal crisis or thinking about suicide can call 13 11 14, or text 0477 13 11 14 at night (6pm-midnight AEDT).

Someone will help put you in contact with a crisis service in your state or territory.

Kids Help Line
 

Australia wide free 24/7, confidential and private counselling service specifically for children and young people aged 5 to 25 years.

Mental Health Line
 

The 1800 011 511 Mental Health Line is NSW Health's 24/7 statewide phone service which links people with NSW Health mental health services. It is a free service.

It is staffed by trained mental health professionals who:

  • offer mental health advice

  • complete a brief assessment

  • make recommendations for appropriate care, including referral to NSW Health mental health services.

Free information and support services for people who experience or witness the abuse of an older person. Operating hours vary.

Financial Counselling Australia 
 

Supports men and boys who are dealing with family and relationship difficulties. 24/7 telephone and online support an information service for Australian men.

Men's Referral Service
 

It takes strength to acknowledge that things may not be right and to look for help.

These services from No to Violence offers assistance, information and counselling to help men who use family violence.
